What are
Skin Boosters
Treatments?
Skin boosters with hyaluronic acid are non-surgical cosmetic treatments designed to improve the skin's hydration, texture, and overall appearance. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin that can hold a significant amount of water, making it essential for maintaining skin moisture and volume. In skin booster treatments, a specialised hyaluronic acid solution is injected into the skin to replenish moisture and stimulate collagen production, resulting in improved skin elasticity and a smoother texture.
The procedure is particularly effective for addressing dry, dull, and dehydrated skin, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, skin boosters work beneath the skin's surface to provide long-lasting hydration and support skin health. The outcome is a more radiant, youthful complexion with improved skin quality. Skin boosters with hyaluronic acid are a versatile and non-invasive option for individuals looking to enhance their skin's overall vitality and appearance, often used on the face, neck, and hands.
Skin boosters with polynucleotides, often derived from DNA, are biological molecules that have been shown to promote skin regeneration and repair.
When combining hyaluronic acid and polynucleotides, a natural hydrating agent, these treatments provide a comprehensive solution for skin revitalisation. The hyaluronic acid offers immediate hydration and volume to the skin, while the polynucleotides work to stimulate collagen production, enhance tissue repair, and promote overall skin health.
The result is a more youthful and radiant complexion with improved elasticity, texture, and hydration. Skin boosters with polynucleotides and hyaluronic acid are an excellent choice for those seeking non-surgical solutions to address signs of aging, skin dryness, and fine lines, offering a multi-faceted approach to skin rejuvenation and overall skin health enhancement.

How Should
I Prepare Before Skin Booster Treatment?
If you’re planning to come in for a skin booster treatment, we advise our patients to avoid alcohol, smoking, Ibuprofen and fish oils for at least two days prior to the treatment. This helps minimise bruising and swelling. We believe that a healthy body increases the chance of a successful outcome.
It is important to highlight other blood-thinning medications such as warfarin, DOACs and heparin can also increase the likelihood of side effect.
Some vaccinations can also intensify the side effects of skin booster treatments. Therefore it is recommended to schedule your skin booster treatment appointment at least two weeks before and after any vaccination.
In Bella Aesthetic Clinic we offer a consultation to ALL our patients to assist with pre-treatment advice. Contact us today to schedule your appointment.
What Happens During
Skin Booster Treatment?
Skin Booster treatments are administered through a series of injections, and the procedure is typically performed by a trained healthcare professional. The specific steps for administering skin booster treatments may vary slightly depending on the area being treated and the practitioner's technique. In Bella Aesthetic Clinic the process is as follows:
-
Consultation: Before the skin booster treatment, you will have a consultation with a pharmacist prescriber. The primary purpose of your consultation is for you to discuss your goals, concerns, and expectations. During your consultation you will be offered a facial assessment and a medical consultation to determine if the skin booster treatment is an appropriate treatment for you.
-
Before Treatment: Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment can be beneficial. Proper hydration can improve the quality of your skin and aid in the healing process. Also on the day of your appointment, arrive with a clean face, free from makeup, lotions, or creams in the treatment areas. This ensures a clean and sterile environment for the procedure.
-
Anaesthesia: we recommend anaesthesia or numbing agents for skin booster treatments, to minimise any possible discomfort. Please ask for assistance when you book your treatment so she can recommend a topical numbing cream to be applied before your treatment or use alternative options such as numbing agents, ice packs or equipment to minimise discomfort.
-
Preparation: Before the skin booster treatment takes place your aesthetic practitioner will identify the specific areas of your face that need to be treated. The area would be cleansed and/or disinfected and pre-treatment photographs will be taken.
-
Treatment: Skin booster treatments are administered using a fine needle or a cannula to inject small amounts of the product directly into the treated area. Multiple injections may be needed in the same treatment area to achieve the desired results. The number of injections and the amount of product used will depend on the individual's needs and the treatment area. As with any other medical treatment it is always desirable to treat with the lowest dose needed to achieve desirable outcome.
-
After Care: After the injections are complete, your practitioner may apply gentle massage. Before undertaken your treatment you will be given post-injection care instructions, such as avoiding make-up, strenuous exercise for a day or two and refraining from rubbing or touching or massaging the treated area.
-
Recovery: Skin booster treatments typically have minimal recovery. Most people can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, it's important to anticipate bruising and swelling can be expected for up to 72 hours after treatment.
-
Results: The effects of skin booster treatments can be immediate but usually it can take up to four to six weeks to see the full effects. Skin booster treatments results are temporary and typically last six months, after which you may need regular treatments to maintain the results.
-
Follow-Up: Depending on your individual response to skin booster treatments and the area treated, you may schedule follow-up appointments in clinic to assess the results and determine the number of sessions needed.
It's essential to choose a qualified and experienced healthcare professional for skin booster treatments to ensure the procedure is not only safe and effective but the practitioner is also trained to manage any possible complications. In Bella Aesthetic Clinic Sandra will also discuss any potential risks or side effects with you during the consultation and provide personalised recommendations based on your specific goals and needs.
Skin Booster Treatment
After Care
After getting skin booster treatments, it's important to follow some aftercare guidelines to ensure the best results and minimise the risk of side effects. Here are some general aftercare tips to consider:
-
Avoid Touching or Rubbing: After the procedure, avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for several hours to prevent risk of infections. This can also help ensure that the product stays where it's intended.
-
Stay Upright: For a few hours after the treatment, try to remain upright and avoid lying down.
-
Refrain from Vigorous Exercise: Avoid vigorous exercise and heavy weight lifting for the first 24 hours after the treatment. Exercise can increase blood flow to the face and may potentially increase risk of bruising and even infection.
-
Avoid Alcohol: It's a good idea to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after your treatment, as it can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
-
Use Sun Protection: Protect your skin from direct sunlight and UV exposure for a few days after the treatment. This can help minimise the risk of skin damage and pigmentation changes. Remember SPF is recommended to be used 365 days in the year to protect your skin from sun damage and skin ageing.
-
Be Gentle with Your Skin: Be gentle when washing your face, and avoid aggressive scrubbing or exfoliation for a few days after the treatment.
-
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help your body process the skin booster treatment more effectively.
-
Avoid Certain Medications and Supplements: Some medications and supplements, such as blood thinners and anti-inflammatory drugs, can increase the risk of bruising.
-
Follow Up as Advised: Depending on your individual response to skin booster treatment a follow-up appointment may be recommended to assess the results and determine the number of sessions needed.
-
Patience: The full effects of skin booster treatments may take several days to become apparent, with the maximum benefit typically seen within four to six weeks. Be patient and wait for the full results to manifest.
It's important to remember that skin booster treatments are a temporary treatment, and the effects will gradually wear off over time. Some individuals will require repeat treatments to maintain the desired results.
If you experience any unusual or severe side effects after skin booster treatment, such as excessive swelling, excessive bruising, pain, loss of sensation, contact your aesthetic practitioner immediately for evaluation and guidance.
Otherwise, following these aftercare tips can help ensure a safe and successful skin booster experience.
